- Welder/Operator Performance Qualification (WPQ/WPQTR):
- SMAW, GMAW (short-arc/spray/pulse), FCAW, GTAW, SAW, GTAW-hotwire, orbital, and mechanized processes.
- Plate and pipe in 1G–6G/1F–4F positions with visual and mechanical acceptance to the governing standard.
- Mechanical Testing:
- Tension tests (reduced-section, all-weld-metal), guided bends (face/root/side), impact (Charpy V-Notch) at specified temperatures, hardness surveys (HB/HRC/HV).
- Macro & Micro Examination:
- Etched macros for weld size/fusion/penetration; microstructure, HAZ evaluation, grain/refinement; ferrite number (FN) for stainless as specified.
- Non-Destructive Testing (as required by code or WPS):
- PT/MT/UT coordination; visual inspection to code criteria; radiography coordination when specified.
- Coating/Corrosion & Post-Weld Support (optional):
- Salt Spray screening for coated weldments, OES/EDS chemistry checks (base/filler/dilution), failure analysis if nonconformance occurs.
- Documentation & Deliverables:
- Complete WPS, PQR, and WPQ packages with traceability to heat lots, filler batches, equipment calibration, and environmental logs—built to pass audits.
