Why Weld Testing Services Matter
In aerospace structures and oil & gas pressure systems, weld reliability drives safety, fatigue life, and leak-tight performance. Code-compliant testing verifies procedure capability, confirms welder skill, and proves production conformity. From essential-variable control to fracture toughness and NDT, weld testing reduces rework, accelerates MRB decisions, and satisfies OEM, FAA, and regulatory audits.
Our Weld Testing Services
- Weld Procedure Qualification (WPS/PQR) – Demonstrates that your defined variables (process, base/filler, preheat/PWHT, heat input) can produce acceptable welds per ASME IX, AWS D1.1/D17.1, API 1104, ISO 15614. Includes NDT, mechanical tests, macro/micro exams, and audit-ready documentation.
- Welder Qualification (WPQ/WPQTR) – Certifies individual welder/operator skill to a WPS across required positions and thickness/diameter ranges (plate & pipe, 1G–6G/1F–4F), with coordinated NDT and bends/tension per the governing code.
- Mechanical Testing of Welds – Guided bends (face/root/side), tension (reduced-section & all-weld-metal), Charpy V-Notch at temperature, and hardness surveys/HAZ traverses to verify strength, ductility, and toughness.
- Metallography & Macro/Micro Examination – Etched macros for penetration, fusion, and discontinuities; microstructure/HAZ evaluation; ferrite number (FN) for stainless as specified.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) – MPII & LPI in accordance with code and customer requirements; radiography coordination when required.
- Consumable & Base Metal Verification (OES/EDS) – Chemistry confirmation of base/filler metals and dilution, plus inclusion/corrosion product ID to support root-cause work.
- Corrosion/Coating Support (as needed) – Salt Spray and related evaluations for coated weldments, with photo-documented inspection and ratings.
- Documentation Packages – Complete WPS/PQR/WPQ deliverables with variable logs, calibration certificates, NDT and mechanical results—structured to pass audits.
Industries We Support
- Aerospace: Airframe and hydraulic weldments, engine-adjacent components, high-performance alloys under OEM/FAA expectations.
- Oil & Gas: Pipeline/tubulars, pressure vessels, valve bodies, weld overlays/cladding for sour/CO₂/subsea service.
- Defense & General Manufacturing: Mission-critical assemblies where repeatability and documentation are non-negotiable.
Trusted by engineers and QC managers across mission-critical industries.
Accreditations & Compliance
AADFW operates to ISO/IEC 17025 with traceable calibrations and documented uncertainty. Qualifications and tests are executed to ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1 / D17.1, API 1104, ISO 15614/9606, and applicable ASTM/ASME methods (e.g., ASTM A370, ASTM E190/E290). We support Nadcap-driven program requirements and provide audit-ready reports for OEM, prime, and regulatory reviews.
Why Engineers Choose AADFW
- Accredited & audit-ready processes, methods, and reports.
- Faster turnaround with coordinated sequencing and proactive status updates.
- Trusted partner to aerospace and oil & gas QA organizations.
