Certify Welder Skill Accredited, Defensible, and Delivered Fast

At AADFW our three on-site, certified weld inspectors qualify individual welders and operators to code, verifying technique, position, and material ranges through coordinated NDT and mechanical testing. We deliver audit-ready WPQ/WPQTR documentation with the precision engineers demand and faster turnaround than slow, global labs.

Why Welder Qualification Testing (WPQ) Matters
In flight-critical and high-pressure systems, weld quality is only as good as the person striking the arc. WPQ confirms a welder can deposit sound weld metal to a specific WPS within defined thickness, diameter, and position ranges—supporting safety, compliance, and performance. Code-compliant qualification (e.g., ASME IX, AWS D1.1/D17.1, API 1104, ISO 9609) reduces rework, speeds MRB dispositions, and satisfies OEM/FAA and customer audits.
AADFW’s Approach: Precision, Speed, and Proof
- Accredited & precise: Testing within an ISO/IEC 17025 quality system using calibrated equipment, traceable materials, and documented uncertainty.
- Faster results: Streamlined scheduling, same-day NDT coordination, and right-sized reports compress lead times without compromising rigor.
- Trusted by industry: Aerospace and oil & gas teams rely on our clear acceptance criteria, thorough data capture, and proactive communication from coupon receipt to certificate.
Welder Qualification (WPQ) Capabilities
- Processes & Modes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW (short-arc/spray/pulse), FCAW, SAW, orbital/mechanized; single- and multi-process tests.
- Materials & Ranges: Carbon/low-alloy steels, stainless, Ni-base, Al/Ti (as specified). Qualification for base-metal groups, thicknesses, diameters, and joint types per code.
- Positions: Plate and pipe in 1G–6G / 1F–4F with position-specific acceptance criteria.
- NDT (as required by code/WPS): VT/PT/MT in-house coordination; radiography coordination when specified.
- Mechanical Testing: Guided bends (face/root/side), tension (as required), Charpy V-Notch at service temperatures when specified; hardness surveys/HAZ traverses as needed.
- Metallography (as specified): Macro etch for fusion/penetration/undercut; microstructure review for specialty programs.
- Data Capture & Traceability: Current/voltage/travel speed (when applicable), interpass temps, shielding/backing; heat lot and filler batch traceability; environmental logs.
- Continuity & Renewal Support: Employer transfer language, continuity log template, and reminders on essential-variable changes that affect validity.
- Deliverables: WPQ/WPQTR certificate, raw test records, photos, NDT and mechanical results, calibration certificates, audit-ready and tied to the governing WPS.
Industries We Support
- Aerospace: Airframe/hydraulic weldments, engine-adjacent hardware; tight documentation to OEM/FAA expectations.
- Oil & Gas: Pipe/tubulars, pressure components, valve bodies, and weld overlays for sour/CO₂/subsea service.
- Defense & Manufacturing: Mission-critical platforms where welder skill, repeatability, and records are non-negotiable.
Trusted by engineers and QC managers across mission-critical industries.
